CONCLUSION ABOUT HOW MEASURE VOLUME OF LIQUID

As my experience before, I saw when I teaching topic of volume of liquid in teaching Mathematics, I saw pupils really interested when you put them on group and let them interact with each other to do the task especially in measuring water level. They mostly remember when we using the thing that  they never see before and colourful thing. In this case I using water with red, blue and green colour to attract them. Also let they pour the water by themselves as it is a concrete material that suitable for the to undersatand the concept.

As a conclusion, in choosing a suitable teaching aids, you must know the level of knowledge of your student, the suitable of teaching aids relate to content and make sure teaching aids is clear and can be viewable, hear by your pupils. This is really important to meets your teaching objective.

Teaching Activity 2 : High Achiever Pupils

Teaching Aids :   different sizes of containers, glasses
1.      Form 2 groups of pupils.  Each group is given 6 different sizes of containers.
2.      Label the containers with A,B,C,D,E and F.

3.      Ask pupils to match the containers by guessing which containers have same volume based on the size and the mass of the containers without open it.
4.       Ask pupils to pour the water into the glass and see either the volumes are same or not.

4.      Pupils write down the answer in the table.
5.       Groups that can match all correct win.
6.       Example:

Teaching Activity 1 : Lower Achiever Pupils

Teaching Aids :   different sizes of glasses
1. Form 2 groups of pupils.  Each group is given 6 different sizes of glasses.
2. Label the containers with A,B,C,D,E and F

3.  Ask pupils to match the glasses by guessing which glasses have same volume.  Pupils can see the water because the glasses are transparent.
4.  Ask pupils to pour the water that their match into the glass and see either the volumes are same or  not.

5. Pupils write down the answer in the table
7. Groups that can match all correct win.
8. Example

Introduction How To Measure Volume Of Liquid

Volume is the measurement of space taken up by something. Solids, liquids and glasses all take up space. Misconception on capacity may arise among the pupils while teaching Volume of Liquid.  In this task I will teach the pupils how to compare volumes of liquid by direct comparison. Hope this can give some ideas to the teachers on how to teach the topic effectively. The tools and methods for calculating liquid volume are different from that used for solids. For liquid volumes we would use a graduated cylinder, a dipstick or a flowmeter. Liquid in a container tends to curve at the edges. This curve is called the meniscus. Generally it curves down toward the center, but if there is an object in the cylinder, a straw for example, the liquid will curve up along the edges of that object. So it is important to set the cylinder so you sight along the top of the liquid. Take the reading from the center. which is the bottom of the curve. The smaller the volume of the cylinder the greater the curve will be. A burette card is simple to make and helps with the measurement. Take an index card and draw thick lines on it. Hold the card behind the cylinder at a level with the bottom of the curve, to get an accurate reading.  The formula for finding the volume of a cone is pi*height*radius2. The markings on the cylinder take this into account when they calculate the volume of the liquid at any given height. Each mark is a calculation of the height from the base * pi * the diameter--the cross-sectional area of the cylinder.

How Volume Of Liquid Are Measured

Video above show how to measure volume of liquid using a gauge of cylinder. In that video their show 3 type of a gauge cylinder which different height. The important step how volume of liquid measured is observation eye at cylinder was straight.
